The Beauty of Shadow

Shawn,

I was very pleased to see your page. I especially like the way you describe the situation in each picture and give each one a name. I like the use of metallic and reflective materials - you correctly chose the most dramatic image in which we see the reflections best.

Check to see that you can change to Perspective view - it could be that
your images are all in parallel projection (axonometric) which reduces the
drama.

Using the simple curved slotted screen to cast shadows could work better with a simpler plane. The experimental pieces on the plane are good practice but look messy. How about if you edit down to make the shadow even more dramatic?

For the page layout, I appreciate the one larger image. The page would be stronger if the body text were all with white background and same size body font. Title fonts could be much bolder and larger, acting as graphic objects. Consider a sentence to describe the problem. Look at how you use white space. Perhaps the large piece could be set-off in a frame with a drop shadow or colored background that has the three smaller
ones?

Despite my suggestions to make it better, I think you have a great start. Keep going!

Shawn-

This is a great model, albeit a little color might allow it to become more evocative. The colors don't have to be bold, candy-land like colors, just subtle and monochromatic.

Also, some experiential views would surely add to the power of the forms. Photoshop some people into your model, then take a view at their eye levels.

Cheers,

Jeff
